Waterfall Blederija

Municipality of Kladovo, in a district of Bor is a set of history and nature that could be rarely seen in one place… From the hydroelectric power plant Đerdap, Kazan, Trajan’s table and the remains of Trajan’s bridge are just some of the examples of local beauty. But the least known is the most beautiful thing.

Waterfall Blederija is near the village Reka, on the road Kladovo-Negotin. Very few people heard about it, so I will help. If you follow my route, you can find it located between villages Grabovica and Stara Brza Palanka. The road through the settlement Reka did not last long. A small village, with a few inhabitants, and the rest are displaced around the world, similarly to the whole surroundings… With the last house in the settlement stops the asphalt road and begins the adventure… The winding dirt road raises doubts, but fortunately, our friends from family Belčić were with us, so I did not think that we were missing somewhere. The surrounding mountains with thick forest, the brook, and even this dust y road that has expanded in several places (in principle, as needed), gave me the feeling that I was breaking through a rainforest, and behind the next curve, I was expecting beauty that will makes me speechless.

Beauty was here. In fact, everywhere around me, but without a word, they left me bridges over the river Blederija. Okay, the bridge is there, I can’t complain. A few meters away from the bridge, somebody made a new path across the river, so now you can choose… Of course, I avoided the bridges because they seemed quite unsafe. Most likely I would not have crossed them walking. I decided to the variant of the car through the brook, which made me feeling the experience of “breaking through the rainforest” once more. It’s all very nice. At least for me, because I am more a type of person that admires nature and loves adventures, and always choose something like that instead of urban places … I have visited a place that is less known, so I understood that dirty un-asphalted road and bridges from a century ago. However, in all this attention attracted me a house or property just before the parking nearby the waterfall… I looked at friends, and just when I wanted to ask if it was a wild garbage landfill, their sad eyesight and mild nodding gave me the answer without questions.

The road to the Blederija waterfall

Not so far from there we stopped. A nice resting place with benches, and a path uphill. On the rim of the holt we sow the field of corn, and between … No, it’s not true! Some “smart” man forgot the garbage in front of the path to the waterfall. Too bad, it was not addressed. I would send him to a home address with greetings from the nature… We are going down the manually excavated stairs to the waterfall, and the water bubbles become louder. As many times before, I took over the role of the “leader of the road” and headed forward to see this beauty as soon as possible, without waiting for others…

Finally, I arrived… Waterfall Blederija occurs on the flow of the river with the same name, which crash some 7 meters in a limestone pool, forming a beautiful little lake. The wellhead of the river is not too far away. Just two kilometers from here…

Waterfall Blederija

A beautiful thousand and one color of green moss, trees that hold firmly to the last layers of the earth, decorated rocks, and water turquoise blue, sub-thermal, ice cold… Refreshment guaranteed. Small space, but the beauty makes it so big, the horn of water that clings to the wall makes it strong, and all together makes a lovely place that deserves more attention.

Yes, there are those who take care of this place, the same tribe of “the indigenes” that I mentioned in the article “The Lake of Zaovine – beauty of the Tara National Park”… Every honor you have in your efforts and commitment.

Even when this beauty would merge with that cave, even less known, and not so explored, which is nearby, across the mountain, it could be a real little National Park. And here should be the end of my writing, and the beginning of your planning to visit this beauty…

But, unfortunately, it is not…

As in anywhere else in Serbia, there is also this BUT, only in this place it is written in the big sad letters… If only the previously mentioned wild dump would be in question, or the one unaddressed garbage bag, it would be still at that level: OK, this is Serbia, what do you expect?!

Blederija river

But no, there are plastic bottles, attached to the shrubs and lower branches of the trees… which Blederija failed to take back to the “civilization”. There are also plastic bags for which someone could think that they were planned to be attached on shrubs and over the branches, as signs … Guidelines to human stupidity and negligence.

Well, the smart guys did not throw garbage, they hanged it all around! And even cans, and the round trail of the balefire, the remains of the feast and the bowed branches, which someone extinguished by pushing it all into that beautiful, turquoise lake…

But this can’t be members of the “indigenous” tribe who set up a board with a description of waterfall, flora and fauna. Not those who are trying to preserve this beauty, making it affordable… Are those same ones who manually bathed stairs so that they could descend and enjoy in the beauty of the waterfall? Or that are the local inhabitants who stayed here and decided to destroy all this?!

No, they are not…

Well done, You, You call these areas your own, and proudly share photos on social networks… You, who are carefully looking for trash cans in European capitals, who would not be able to throw a paper there… But, when you cross the border of Serbia, you open a window and throw bags of garbage collected along the way. Yes, you are somebody, you can leave your dirty tracks around Blederija, because tomorrow you are back in your EU, and the garbage … Let it to somebody else who will take care about it… Yes, you are that persons, this place is not famous, to take the blame to visitors from Serbia…

Well, it might be better that the waterfall is not so famous, and the cave is even less. Perhaps it would be better for everyone to remain mysterious, protected by damaged bridges, which I would not even walk through, surrounded by mountains and dense forests, and covered with dust from the road…
